FIU is Crossing Over to Connect – India

Summer 2018

Florida International University’s second Global Positioning Showcase (GPS) brings FIU to India, a nation with which the institution already enjoys strong ties through students, faculty, staff, research collaborations, visiting scholars, study abroad trips, and much more. On this journey, we look forward to connecting with students and scholars, academic and research partners, higher education and governmental leaders, alumni and friends of the University.

A still young institution that opened its doors only in 1971, FIU is much recognized for its local and global impact generated by world-renowned faculty, talented students and dedicated staff. This initiative is a multi-departmental coordinated effort to look beyond our State borders and highlight our worldwide successes while reaching out to those who are part of this global landscape. At the same time it is an opportunity to explore new linkages and potential partnerships that are aligned with our institutional vision and mission, our Worlds Ahead brand, and our strategic goals as committed to in BeyondPossible2020.

The expectation is that the GPS tour will lead to new ideas, mutually-beneficial partnerships and novel programs that create educational and scholarly opportunities for our students, faculty and staff all over the world. The GPS tour is spearheaded by a university-wide planning committee.
